C’est facile de deviner ce qu’Intel recherche avec sa 9e génération de processeurs de bureau Core, AMD ayant jusqu’à maintenant battu Intel avec son APU Ryzen 7 2700X, qui possède 8 cœurs et 16 cœurs logiques, face aux 6 cœurs et 12 cœurs logiques du Core i7-8700K. Le lancement du Core i9-9900K redresse la barre, bien qu’il soit plus difficile pour Intel de faire évoluer ses processeurs que pour AMD.

Le Core i9-9900K est considérablement plus puissant que son prédécesseur, et prend également l’avantage sur le Ryzen 7 2700X. La différence entre le nouvel i9 et le Ryzen 7 est mince en multicœur, mais Intel affirme sa domination en monocœur. Nous retenons notre souffle jusqu’à ce qu’AMD lance sa série 3000 l’an prochain.

Intel vend le Core i9-9900K comme étant le meilleur processeur pour le jeu actuellement disponible, ce que nous pouvons confirmer, en le comparant à des processeurs intégrés dans des machines équipées de façon identique. Le Core i9-9900K peut sortir bien plus de performances graphiques d’une même carte graphique que ses concurrents. Mais les bénéfices sont assez bas à des résolutions élevées.

Le plus gros défaut du Core i9-9900K est son prix. Il est vendu en ligne entre 600 et 1 000 €. AMD vend le Ryzen 7 2700X à environ 340 € sur Amazon. Le Core i9 est plus puissant, mais sans que cette puissance vaille les 300 € supplémentaires. Le Core i9-9900K est tout simplement trop cher.

Si vous êtes à la recherche du système de jeu le plus puissant possible, et que l’argent n’est pas un problème, alors vous pouvez choisir l’Intel Core i9-9900K. Sinon, pour avoir un meilleur rapport qualité / prix, regardez ailleurs chez Intel ou chez AMD, le Core i9-9900K ne pouvant justifier son coût prohibitif.

Le Core i9-9900K coûte également plus cher en fonctionnement, puisqu’il consomme bien plus que ce qu’indique son enveloppe thermique, quand on l’overclocke. Le Core i9-9900K fournit de toutes façons d’excellentes performances par défaut, et les bénéfices de l’overclocking sont réduits voire nuls. De ce fait, nous recommandons de ne pas overclocker le Core i9-9900K de façon permanente, ça ne vaut juste pas le coup.
