If you can overlook those little problems, the dv7t is a handsome, fast unit. For our review it was nicely configured with a 400GB hard drive, a Blu-ray drive, and Windows Vista Home Premium. And if you're looking to replace a desktop, it's a better candidate than most other big notebooks because of its proprietary left-side connection for HP's xb3000 expansion base. Though the base is an expensive add-on, it incorporates a screen stand, a third hard-drive bay, far better speakers, and a wireless keyboard and mouse for a complete desktop experience. Forget the peripherals right now, though. Without the docking station, the dv7t slightly stumbles as an end-all, be-all entertainment unit. If you're looking for the whole package, consider Toshiba's Qosmio line of massive desktop replacement PCs. They're hardly portable, but the Qosmios (or is that Qosmii for plural?) have consistently incorporated terrific audio into their designs.

HP's Pavilion dv7-6185us is a serious alternative to the Envy series for those wanting high performance but not necessarily using it for gaming. The Intel Core i7 quad core processor and 6GB of memory allow it to handle even tough tasks such as desktop video. Storage is superb with a large hard drive, Blu-ray compatible drive and two USB 3.0 ports for expansion. HP has even moved back to a traditional trackpad from the poorly received unified version.

If you require more speed and wireless options such as WiDi, WiMAX, and Bluetooth, stick with the Lenovo IdeaPad V570-1066A9U.

It's still a 3.4kg knee-cruncher but now it has an understated design that minimises the bulk of the system and the audio quality is far better. We still have some quibbles about the glossy screen and ultra-shiny screen bezel, and about having a backlight for the trackpad but not the keyboard. Storage, memory and ports are all top notch. And while we're delighted that the heat issues are gone, the AMD processor doesn't always match up to Intel Sandy Bridge with dedicated graphics for gaming.

We're slightly disappointed by the performance of the HP in comparison to the other models, though it is indicative of the differences we see between Intel and AMD's processors in the WorldBench 6 suite. There are some real highlights though - the design is very pleasing in both practical and aesthetic terms and the generous storage provision is remarkable too. Fondée en 1939, la société américaine est un important fabricant de serveurs et d'imprimantes et l'une des principales sociétés informatiques au monde. Jusqu'en 2015, la société s'appelait Hewlett-Packard Company. Après une scission, la division informatique a été renommée HP Inc.
En 2023, HP détenait une part de marché approximative de 22 % des ventes mondiales de PC, ce qui en faisait le numéro 2 après Lenovo.
La plupart des jeux pas trop demandants actuels peuvent tourner de façon fluide. soyez prêts à endurer un rendu graphique assez moche à cause de la basse résolution et des détails au minimum. Par ailleurs ces cartes sont suffisantes pour un travail de bureau et le visionnage de vidéos (pas évident pour la vidéo HD).
NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT: Successeur de la 8600M GT et grâce à une production en 65nm la carte a une cadence plus élevée (Et donc plus rapide) avec la même production énergétique. De plus, il y a un processeur vidéo avancé (VP3) et HybridPower pour plus d’autonomie (en conjonction avec la 9100M G).
AMD Radeon HD 6490M:
GPU d'entrée de gamme basé sur la plateforme Seymore XT avec un support GDDR5. La puce est cadencée à 700-750 avec de la GDDR5 et 800 avec de la DDR3.
AMD Radeon HD 6515G2:
AMD Radeon HD 6545G2:
Intel HD Graphics 4000:
Carte graphique intégrée aux processeurs de la génération Ivy Bridge. Possède des fréquences différentes selon les processeurs (du ULV au quad core de bureau) et donc des performances différentes.
Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.
AMD Radeon HD 6770M: Carte la plus rapide de la série 6600M/6700M avec de la mémoire GDDR5, UVD3 et Eyefinity+. Elle succède à la HD 5770 avec plus de coeurs et des fréquences plus élevées.
AMD Radeon HD 6755G2:
AMD Radeon HD 7690M: En pratique, c'est une Radeon HD 6750M renommée, la Radeon HD 7690M partage de nombreuses spécifications avec aussi de la mémoire DDR3.
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M: Un GPU de milieu de gamme et la GeForce GT la plus puissante de la série 600M
NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M: Plusieurs modèles avec une puce Fermi différente. Spécifiquement, on retrouve la GT 630M avec les variantes GF108/GF106/GF116, mais en gros on peut dire que cette carte est une GeForce GT 540M ou une 555M. Une variante GF117 existe aussi, mais gravée en 28nm donc avec une consommation moindre.
Seuls les vieux jeux peuvent tourner de façon fluide sur ces ordinateurs (S'ils ne sont pas trop gourmands en ressources). Les coeurs à mémoire partagée de cette catégorie ont l'avantage d'être moins chaud et moins gourmand en énergie. Pour le bureau, internet, l'édition de photos, et le montage vidéo ces cartes graphiques n'ont aucune restrictions.
Intel HD Graphics 3000:
3 GPUs à venir (1er Trimestre 2011) intégrés aux CPU Intel Sandy Bridge (Core ix-2xxx). Les 3000 / 200 correspondent à la puce GT2 avec 12 Execution Units (EUs).

Intel Core 2 Duo:
C'est le successeur du Core Duo avec des pipelines 5-20% plus rapides sans consommation supplémentaire. Comme une addition à la conception du core duo là existe un quatrième décodeur, une SSE-unité amplifiée et une unité logique arithmétique additionnelle (ALU). Le core 2 duo pour ordinateurs portables est identique aux processeurs de core 2 duo d'ordinateur de bureau mais les portables fonctionnent avec des tensions inférieures et une vitesse de Frontside. L'exécution des portables également synchronisés est 20-25% inférieure à des ordinateur de bureau en raison de fréquence d’horloge inférieure de Frontside et plus lents de disques durs.
T9400: Le T9400 est un uissant CPU pour portable proche du Core 2 Duo P9500 mais qui consomme 35W.

2410M:
Dual-core Sandy Bridge avec GPU et contrôleur DDR3 intégré. Le CPU est cadencé à 2.3 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.6-2.9 GHz) et le GPU à 650 (1200 MHz Turbo).
2430M: Processeur Dual-core basé sur l'architecture Sandy Bridge avec un GPU et un contrôleur mémoire intégré. Le CPU est cadencé à 2.4 GHz (Turbo Boost 2.7-3 GHz) et le GPU à 650 (1200 MHz Turbo).

En temps normal, seuls les ordinateurs portables de 17 pouces affichent un tel poids à la pesée. Pour une machine de 15 pouces, on dira que l’appareil appartient aux modèles les plus lourds. Le poids acceptable pour une utilisation sédentaire.
