This is no slender reed compared to your average ultra-portable productivity machine but, as 15.6-inch gaming laptops go, it’s pretty good. The Lenovo Legion Slim 7i is touted as the slimmest gaming notebook able to cope with the demands of ray tracing. It’s only 17.9 mm thick, tipping the scales at 1.8 kg. So you could slip it in your carry bag, but you wouldn’t necessarily want to lug it around all day. The game is up as soon as you lift the lid, thanks to the keyboard’s Corsair iCue RGB lighting. You’re hit with a pulsating rainbow of colours rippling across the keys, but thankfully this can be disabled when you need to look a bit less ostentatious during business hours.

For a suggested retail price of P99,995, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7i isn’t simply for gaming yet for editing 1080p up to 4K clips as well which makes it an all-rounder beast. The only trade-off for us is that the fans get loud when stressing the system due to intense gaming. The build may decrease the stability of this gaming laptop but we didn’t encounter it. The battery, for us, is quite lower than expected but acceptable since it gives RGB and quite efficient cooling power despite its slim build.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that Lenovo mentions that they’ve implemented the Max-Q Dynamic Boost technology on the Nvidia GPUs, which allow the system to increase the GPU’s allocated power by up to 15W when needed, while subtracting it from the CPU. That means more power can be allocated to the GPU in games, which could push the 65W 2060 in these laptops to perform closer to a full-power 80W 2060 implementation. However, what I don’t know at this point is whether this is properly supported by both the Intel and AMD variants, or is just something reserved for the Intel configuration.

Lenovo proclaims the Legion S7 (short for Slim 7) to be ‘the world’s lightest RTX laptop’, which turned out to be an easily disproved statement. The actual lightest RTX laptop is the ROG Flow Z13 from Asus, although that device’s detachable keyboard and dinky 13-inch touchscreen arguably qualify it as more of a hybrid tablet than a true laptop, so we’ll allow Lenovo the loophole. With a weight of 1.9kg, it’s still hard to deny that the Legion S7 is impressively lightweight given its 15.6-inch display and full-scale keyboard. At less than 20mm thick, it lives up to the ‘slim’ moniker too, but doesn’t appear to remotely compromise itself for that slender form factor. In fact, the Legion S7 sits among the very best gaming laptops in terms of design and build quality, despite the relatively sensible asking price of $1,770 (£1,500, around AU$2,510). There are a few different models of the Lenovo Legion S7 available right now, and that price gets you the version we’ve been sent for review, which packs an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card and an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H processor,

Slim gaming laptops are still a new category with fewer models available, and the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 is currently among the best ones you can buy. Despite shaving off its bulk, the Slim has got great midrange performance for a laptop having a combo of the Ryzen 7 5800H processor and an NVIDIA RTX 3060 GPU. The presence of a 1440P 165Hz display is a nice extra, and the battery life is decent for a laptop of this standard. At Rs. 1,44,990, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7 goes up against some of the last-gen Asus ROG laptops as well as the Dell Alienware models. While performance on all of them is equally good, the advantage of having a slim-n-trim body makes it easy to carry around. We recommend you should check it out before making a decision.

However, if the portability does sound nice, the Legion Slim 7 is great at what it does and when you plug it in for the full gaming experience, it won’t disappoint most. Il nous a séduit dès les premiers instants par sa sobriété, son esthétique léchée, sa compacité et son grand écran 3,2K lumineux… pour mieux nous décevoir quelques heures plus tard par sa surchauffe et le bruit infernal de ses ventilateurs. Particulièrement soigné mais trop fin pour son propre bien, le nouveau gamer compact de Lenovo ne parvient pas à transformer l’essai totalement. Compte tenu des excellentes bases de ce produit, nous avons toutefois bon espoir que Lenovo parviendra à nous proposer une future itération mieux équilibrée, moins affectée par la chauffe, et donc plus convaincante. On croise donc les doigts pour l’année prochaine.

To get all this, usually, you’ll be spending an extra few hundred, so to get all this for £2300 or so is a good deal, actually. Of course, you can get a little bit more power for less money with the likes of the Alienware M16 and its clever dual refresh rate display. However, it weighs over a kilo more than this Lenovo choice and offers a poorer battery life. The Medion Erazer Major X20 is perhaps a better choice for those who want all-out power at a similar price tag, and a rather similar spec sheet – it comes at the cost of a much smaller battery, though. Whichever way you cut it, though, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7i 16 makes for a good all-round mid-range gaming laptop in what is a fiercely contested part of the market.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" de la légende anglaise, novo (latin) pour nouveau) a été fondée en 1984 en tant que société chinoise de commerce d'ordinateurs. En 2004, la société était le plus grand fabricant d'ordinateurs portables en Chine et, après l'acquisition de la division PC d'IBM en 2005, le quatrième au monde. En plus des ordinateurs de bureau et des ordinateurs portables, la société fabrique des moniteurs, des projecteurs, des serveurs, etc., et se spécialise dans le développement, la fabrication et la commercialisation d'électronique grand public, d'ordinateurs personnels, de logiciels, de solutions d'entreprise et de services connexes.

En 2016, l'entreprise s'est classée au premier rang mondial des ventes d'ordinateurs. Il le détenait encore en 2023 avec environ 23% de part de marché mondiale. Les gammes de produits importantes sont Thinkpad, Legion et Ideapad.

En 2011, elle a acquis une participation majoritaire dans Medion AG, un fabricant européen de matériel informatique. En 2014, Motorola Mobility a été racheté, ce qui a donné un coup de pouce à Lenovo sur le marché des smartphones.

Ces cartes graphiques de milieu de gamme peuvent faire tourner tout les jeux récents de façon fluide. Les jeux gourmands ne peuvent être joués qu'avec les détails réglés sur moyen.

L'horloge du processeur tourne à 5,4 GHz. Par rapport à l'i9-13900HK, il n'y a pas d'overclocking facile, mais un ensemble complet de fonctions de gestion vPro.

AMD Phoenix (Zen 4, Ryzen 7040):

R7 7840HS: Processeur haut de gamme mobile à 8 noyaux avec 16 threads. Il atteint une fréquence maximale de 5,1 GHz sur chaque processeur et peut être utilisé dans des applications mono et multithreads. Il utilise l'architecture Zen 4 et a un TDP configurable de 35 à 54 watts.
