Le Galaxy Z Flip 7 est le bond en avant que l'on attendait de la part de Samsung en matière de design. Son nouvel écran externe, beaucoup plus grand, fait la différence par rapport à la génération précédente. Le design du smartphone est irréprochable, les deux écrans en mettent plein la vue et l'interface One UI est toujours aussi plaisante. Nous saluons également le léger gain en autonomie par rapport au Z Flip 6. En revanche, on regrette que Samsung intègre toujours une recharge famélique, ainsi qu'une puce Exynos qui ne parvient (toujours) pas à rivaliser avec son équivalent chez Qualcomm. On regrette aussi la complexité pour ajouter des applications à l'écran externe, qui a de quoi en décourager plus d'un. Enfin, l'appareil photo offre une expérience plus que satisfaisante, mais le besoin d'un téléobjectif se fait encore sentir pour un appareil dans cette gamme de prix.

A n'en pas douter, le Galaxy Z Flip 7 de Samsung est un produit réussi. Il reprend l’essentiel de ce que propose son prédécesseur, tout en améliorant certains points. On pense à la largeur de l’écran principale, un peu plus importante, qui permet de mieux utiliser le clavier virtuel. Ou de l’extension de l’écran externe à toute la surface disponible ainsi qu’une meilleure luminosité. On prend beaucoup de plaisir à l’utiliser, ce qui évite d’avoir à déplier l’appareil à tout bout de champ. À ce sujet, un travail important a été effectué sur la charnière et le verre de protection de la dalle AMOLED. La pliure est de moins en moins visible et pratiquement imperceptible au toucher.Bon point aussi pour les performances très correctes de l’Exynos 2500 et sa bonne gestion de la consommation électrique.

I’m pulling my phone out of my pocket many times throughout the day, and that’s an extra step between me and my task. Motorola makes this experience a bit better by offering nearly the full phone experience on the external display. I simply don’t have to fold a Razr phone open as often as a Z Flip. Samsung greatly improved the Cover Screen hardware, but the software still limits it. So, I’m left with a big, beautiful edge-to-edge screen that can’t really do what I want it to do. Samsung absolutely nailed the Galaxy Z Flip 7’s hardware and design, but for my money, I’d rather have a more powerful external display.

If you don’t care that much about using the cover screen beyond widgets (or are happy to side-load them via a third-party app), there’s a fairly strong argument for choosing the Z Flip 7 this year. The design is impressively slim and sturdy, battery life is very good, and the extensive software support remains unmatched. If the cover screen were less restrictive, it would be a slam-dunk for Samsung. As things stand, however, I’m still recommending the Razr 60 Ultra over the Galaxy Z Flip 7, because Motorola makes far more of the foldable format.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is the best foldable phone in my opinion. After using the Z Fold 6 for most of the last year, it’s refreshing to switch to a flip-style phone. I’m especially glad it’s a much lighter, more compact device for me to carry around. Thanks to big upgrades like its larger Flex Window display, multimodal AI capabilities, and Samsung DeX, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 has all the ingredients in what I want in a phone — and it helps that it doesn’t cost a fortune either. Over on the creative side of things, no other phone matches the utility of the Flip for what I want in a camera phone. Although the camera performance is barely improved from the Z Flip 6, its rich camera app and handy Flex Window display make it more powerful to use. Motorola has dominated the flip phone scene for the last couple of years now, and while the Razr Ultra (2025) is a super upgrade, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 convinces me that Samsung is back on top.

That new Flex Window is superb, and despite all of the additions to the phone as a whole, it hasn’t lost sight of the fact that the main benefit is the photo-taking capabilities of the Flex Window. Gaming is possible, if not as strong, while this dinky flipper also offers Android 16 and long support. However, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, or Fan Edition, is a serious downgrade. This budget model isn't actually cheap and more akin to the Flip 6 from last year. Battery life isn't as good, while the performance and features also can't match the Samsung Flip 7. But anyway, here's a proper side-by-side so you can see exactly what's changed and what I reckon, one week later.

You could argue that Motorola’s Razr 60 Ultra makes better use of the cover screen – and I’d agree with that assessment – but with the build quality, display quality, software optimisations and improved cameras, the Z Flip 7 is much closer to competing with Motorola’s super clamshell. And in some ways, it’s actually better. This is a wonderful phone, and one that’s a joy to use.

Neither are especially important to me, and I’ve been able to enjoy the wonderful convenience of the folding design with few concerns, provided I remember to charge it every night. I’d consider an upgrade if I owned a Galaxy Z Flip 5, but not if I owned a Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Overall, I've enjoyed my time with this flexible Galaxy smartphone. Sure, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 still won't suit power users who are constantly snapping or streaming. But I find I can do everything I need to with around 5-6 hours of screen on time per day. That includes camera capture and video chats, mixing it up between the cover and main screens. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 can cope with gaming on the go. BUT, Wuthering Waves runs best with lower graphics settings and this foldable phone does get quite toasty under pressure. Sadly the camera setup hasn't been upgraded at all vs the Z Flip 6. But all the same, this Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 can capture some decent looking pics and home movies, and is especially good for selfie fans. Just expect the usual Sammy processing shenanigans.

But all the same, this Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 can capture some decent looking pics and home movies, and is especially good for selfie fans. Just expect the usual Sammy processing shenanigans.

I expect something similar this time, but the Exynos chipset’s image processor might change things. I look forward to testing out this device’s cameras, but I’m hoping it’s the same as last year or better, and hopefully not worse. I really liked this year’s Razr Ultra, but Motorola increased the price of its handset to $1,899, which is a little much. Compared to $1,462, Samsung’s handset seems like a better option. Of course, the Razr Ultra has a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 4,700mAh battery, a 50-megapixel triple camera setup, 16GB of RAM and more, which makes it more ‘Ultra’ than the Z Flip 7. It’s impressive that Samsung is not raising the price of the Z Flip 7 in Canada, but also providing a better experience. While the phone itself isn’t all that exciting, especially compared to the Razr Ultra, the Z Flip 7 might be foldable if you want a solid experience but don’t want to pay $1,900. Of course, I’ll need to put this through its paces before making any concrete judgments.

The larger cover screen, in particular, should make a huge difference to the Flip experience, allowing it to better compete with alternatives from Motorola and Xiaomi while adding a distinctly premium look to the foldable, which, dare I say, was missing before. The lack of any camera hardware changes is a little disappointing to see, but the added camera features – from new filters to a new auto shooting mode – arguably cater more to the Flip user’s needs than a high-res zoom lens. This is a phone designed for selfie takers, after all, and I wager that the 50MP main camera will do just as good a job as ever at that. Some might bemoan the use of the Exynos chipset, but I’d argue that flip-style foldables can rarely handle the thermals that come with top-end performance anyway, so for a less power-hungry user, it’s more than enough.

Having created the current foldables market, Samsung has spent the last few iterations playing catchup as Chinese manufacturers started to out-design the Korean giant with slimmer models and even a tri-folding screen. But with the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, Samsung is finally ready to show who's the king. The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is a stunner. At 8.9mm thick, it's on par with the the Oppo Find N5, and just slightly thicker than the just-announced Honor Magic V5 (8.88mm thick). Honestly, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is approaching the limits of how thin it can be, due to how phones have to accommodate the USB-C port. Of course, they can always skip the port entirely, and just go with wireless charging, but that's an altogether different story for another time.

While these flexible mobiles sport a similar design, their specs are quite different in many ways. For instance, the Samsung Z Flip 7 is powered by an Exynos 2500 which is apparently energy efficient, while Motorola uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Motorola RAZR 60 Ultra

While these flexible mobiles sport a similar design, their specs are quite different in many ways. For instance, the Samsung Z Flip 7 is powered by an Exynos 2500 which is apparently energy efficient, while Motorola uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite. Better for gaming, while the battery capacity is also bigger vs that Galaxy foldable. Samsung has focused on durability for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, so it should prove hardy - although both flip phones are IP48 rated. Plus you've got the usual AI shenanigans, including some Sammy and Moto exclusives.

Le Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE se veut être une porte d'entrée plus abordable dans le monde des smartphones pliants du géant sud-coréen. Bien que son design général et l’affichage n’évoluent pas réellement par rapport à son prédédesseur, il propose quelques améliorations, notamment en termes d’endurance et de photo. Le choix de l'Exynos 2400 n’impacte pas significativement l'expérience au quotidien, mais se fait sentir dans des situations exigeantes comme les jeux. S’il s’impose comme une alternative sérieuse pour les utilisateurs en quête d'un pliant plus accessible, sa proximité avec le Z Flip 6, désormais proposé à un prix encore plus bas, soulève néanmoins des questions sur sa raison d’être et son positionnement tarifaire au moment de sa sortie.

Avec le Z Flip 7 FE, Samsung aurait pu offrir une belle évolution du Z Flip 6. Au final, on a une pâle copie qui n'améliore presque rien. Pire, on est perdant sur les performances qui s'écroulent à cause de l'Exynos 2400 moins puissant et son processeur graphique asthmatique. Moins puissant, mais puce maison. On pourrait se dire que l'autonomie profite d'une optimisation aux petits oignons. Que nenni ! C'est même un poil moins bon que l'original. Le seul atout que l'on trouve à ce Z Flip 7 FE, c'est la calibration de son écran interne qui est plus juste que celui du Z Flip 6. Pas encore parfait, mais mieux. Bref, à 1000 euros, il est coincé entre le Z Flip 7 plus puissant, plus autonome, Wi-Fi 7 et avec un grand écran externe, et le Z Flip 6 trouvable à un peu plus de 700 euros aujourd'hui. Le choix est rapide : soit on rallonge pour une expérience optimale et nouvelle, soit on prend le modèle de 2024, mais ce Z Flip 7 FE ne nous paraît pas être une option viable actuellement.

If the Flip 7 FE itself is discounted into the $700 range, like we are currently seeing at Amazon, then choosing Samsung over Motorola is absolutely the move. But without the sales, the Flip 7 FE could be a good upgrade for someone who prefers Samsung phones, is curious about getting a flip-style phone and wants a more compact handset with decent cameras.

Flip phones are meant to elicit a feeling, but the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is distinct in just how indifferent I feel towards it. The lack of colors and dated front display design detracts considerably from what is ultimately a solid flip phone. On one hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is a great choice if you want a no-frills, more affordable folding phone, or if the camera is equally as important as the budget. Plus, at $300 lower than the Flip 7, it’s a compelling offering. However, it is not as convincing when you consider the alternatives, such as the Galaxy Z Flip 6 or Razr 2025. Overall, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is a fairly confusing product, it’s a solid phone on its own but hampered by last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the excellent Galaxy Z Flip 7. Against the growing competition, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE struggles to stand out even though it’s a good, if unspectacular, folding phone.

On its lonesome, the Galaxy Flip 7 FE is a decent enough clamshell. It’s powerful enough for daily duties, takes clean and colourful photos, and arrives running the very latest version of Android. Samsung’s update commitments are also excellent, and OneUI is as feature-packed as they come – even if it still doesn’t quite unlock the cover screen’s full potential. The problem is you could say exactly the same about the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which is still readily available. The two are practically tied on specs, but the older handset can now be found at a significant discount from its original retail price. That makes it the obvious choice for anyone wanting a flip phone on a more modest budget. A hefty price cut – and Galaxy Z Flip 6 reserves finally running dry – could add to its appeal, but until then this is a Fan Edition phone that doesn’t do quite enough to earn its fans.

At the time of writing, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is selling for less than £600 brand new on Amazon. Obviously, that stock isn’t going to be around forever, but the point remains that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE feels overpriced. It’s a slightly inferior version of last year’s compact foldable model, but it sells for hundreds of pounds more. Factoring in the existence of the Motorola Razr 60, which outguns it in several key ways for £50 less, doesn’t really help the Flip 7 FE’s cause. For all that, there’s no denying that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is a tidy, accomplished compact foldable that’s available for £200 less than the fabulous Flip 7. Or that we rated this very phone (more or less) quite highly last year. It would be disingenuous to pretend that the Flip 7 FE is now suddenly a bad phone. It’s not. However, it’s equally fair to say that unless you can find a good deal, you probably shouldn’t buy it.

Samsung’s first attempt at a more affordable flip phone isn’t bad. Performance is solid, as are battery life and camera quality, but it’s far too similar to last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 6 for my liking, especially considering that phone is so much cheaper – at the time of writing. And with the Motorola Razr 60 on the other side, with its superior cover display and cheaper retail price, there’s very little room for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE to squeeze into the conversation. It’s fine for what it is, but it doesn’t offer nearly enough to justify its existence, and even if it did, it’s still too expensive.

While my favourite mini foldable smartphone of 2025 is still the Motorola RAZR 60 Ultra, Sammy has made some decent strides with this latest model. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 boasts a similar cover screen and bigger battery, but the camera tech remains the same as before. Gaming is possible, if not as strong, while this dinky flipper also offers Android 16 and long support. However, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, or Fan Edition, is a serious downgrade. This budget model isn't actually cheap and more akin to the Flip 6 from last year. Battery life isn't as good, while the performance and features also can't match the Samsung Flip 7. But anyway, here's a proper side-by-side so you can see exactly what's changed and what I reckon, one week later.

I’m a little torn here, because I’ve been asking for Samsung to deliver a more affordable version of the Z Flip for many generations now, and on the one hand, it’s great to see the foldable family expanding to more accessible price points. On the other hand, this really isn’t what I had in mind. Fair enough, the 128GB model is currently £50 cheaper than the Galaxy Z Flip 6, you get the Now Brief feature, a new processor and one more year of software support, but none of those additions feel hugely advantageous, and I expect the Z Flip 6 will be discounted further in the very near future anyway.

The Z Flip 7 FE doesn’t rewrite the foldable rulebook, but that’s not its job. It’s meant to be the most accessible entry point into Samsung’s stylish Flip series, and it does that by keeping the essentials and trimming just enough to hit a lower price. You miss out on the Flip 7’s larger cover screen, bigger battery, and refined design. But you still get a flagship-level main camera, a solid folding display, and access to Samsung’s latest Galaxy AI features. Samsung: Le groupe Samsung est le plus grand conglomérat sud-coréen et a été fondé en 1938.
