This notebook is marred by two glaring issues. The bottom of the chassis and parts of the top get too hot to the touch while gaming. It’s understandable to use the chassis as a heatsink, though we think this notebook takes it to the excess. Secondly, the fans are too loud at top RPM and have a highly distinct whine. Even though the X5S has a rather decent pair of speakers, we found ourselves reverting to headphones to hear quieter sounds in games. These issues are both sacrifices made to achieve such a thin and light design. You’ll have to decide whether the trade-offs are worthwhile.

Of course, temperature problems aren’t unusual in gaming laptops, and I’d still happily sit down and play games on the X5s for hours at a time. At this price, though, I expect perfection, so the Aorus X5s just misses out on that elusive fifth star. Still, if you have the funds and are after one of the most distinctive and powerful gaming laptops money can buy, then the Aorus X5s Camo certainly won’t disappoint.

When we reviewed the special edition Aorus X5S v5 Camo back in April, we came away with the feeling that the laptop's strengths were largely negated by the lack of next-gen GPUs. Fast forward a few months and Nvidia has stepped forward to fill the void with the GeForce GTX 10-series. Aorus has responded quickly and the refreshed X5 v6 races out of the gate with a Core i7-6820HK processor and GeForce GTX 1070 graphics allied to a high-resolution 3K WQHD+ display.

Évidemment, une machine de cette compacité ne va pas sans quelques défauts. Elle est assez chère et l’excellent Intel Core i7-7820HK a tendance à prendre quelques degrés de trop et à subir du throttling au-dessus de 3,6 GHz, le mode turbo montant jusqu’à 3,9 GHz. La performance de la machine a également un coût en matière d’autonomie qui se trouve plutôt dans la moyenne basse.

Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.
