Trop ambitieux ? Le HP ZBook Studio G3 est la dernière édition de la famille des ZBook et suit la tendance des appareils de plus en plus fins tout en intégrant de puissants composants. HP offre un très bon appareil en de nombreux aspects, mais les nuisances et l'autonomie sont problématiques

Le temps de réponse d'un écran mesure la rapidité à laquelle l'écran est capable de changer une couleur pour une autre. Un temps de réponse élevé se traduit par une image floutée pour les objets en mouvement. Les joueurs bénéficieront de faibles latences d'affichage en jeu.

Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion)

Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.
Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) décelé 200 Hz55 Niveau de luminosité

Le rétroéclairage de l'écran scintille à la fréquence de 200 Hz (certainement du fait de l'utilisation d'une MDI - Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) à un niveau de luminosité inférieur ou égal à 55 % . Aucun scintillement ne devrait être perceptible au-dessus de cette valeur.

La fréquence de rafraîchissement de 200 Hz est relativement faible, les personnes les plus sensibles devraient percevoir un scintillement et être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire accrue (avec le niveau de luminosité indiqué)

En comparaison, 57 % des appareils testés n'emploient pas MDI pour assombrir leur écran. Nous avons relevé une moyenne à 6577 (minimum : 43 - maximum : 142900) Hz dans le cas où une MDI était active.

Le Studio ZBook G3 est un petit mystère pour nous. HP offre un très bon produit, à beaucoup d'égards, alors qu'il déçoit sur d'autres points. Malheureusement, dans l'ensemble, notre impression de cette station de travail très ambitieuse est négative. Ceci est principalement en raison des nuisances et de l'autonomie de la batterie. Les surfaces atteignent des températures dangereusement élevées qui pourraient aller à causer des brûlures, même avec sous une charge de travail normale. Le comportement des ventilateurs est également à revoir, les deux ventilateurs agissent indépendamment ce qui peut donner à un système extrêmement bruyant et au comportement pulsatif. L'autonomie pratique est inférieure à quatre heures, une performance difficile à défendre pour un appareil qui se veut assez mobile. L'absence d'un lecteur de cartes à puce SmartCard ou de module WWAN large bande pèse aussi dans la balance.

Le ZBook Studio est un projet résolument ambitieux. Beaucoup de performances dans un châssis compact, mais des températures extrêmes et des ventilateurs bruyants et peu accommodants. Pour un appareil à 3800 euros, c'est non.

Le Studio ZBook convainc toutefois à bien des égards : un engin performant intégré dans un excellent châssis, combiné avec un tout excellent écran de 4K, ainsi que de bons dispositifs d'entrée. Les carences sont selon nous trop sévères, surtout pour un prix extrêmement élevé d'environ 3800 euros, difficile à défendre compte tenu des problèmes rencontrés. Les mises à jour du BIOS n'ont pas aidé à ce jour, mais nous espérons de HP un meilleur contrôle des ventilateurs lors d'une prochaine mise à jour. À l'heure actuelle, les stations de travail plus encombrants ont l'avantage de chauffer et d'être moins bruyants tout en ayant des composants encore plus performants
