Avec la puissance… vient le prix abordable ? Le HP Pavilion Power 15t est de retour, avec cette fois un GPU AMD RX 550, et un prix encore moins élevé qu’auparavant. Malheureusement, nous avons rencontré des problèmes inattendus avec notre modèle de test.

Le temps de réponse d'un écran mesure la rapidité à laquelle l'écran est capable de changer une couleur pour une autre. Un temps de réponse élevé se traduit par une image floutée pour les objets en mouvement. Les joueurs bénéficieront de faibles latences d'affichage en jeu.

Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion)

Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.

A juste 880 $, notre Pavilion Power 15 possède une configuration de portable moyen de gamme. En plus du populaire Core i7-7700HQ, il intègre 8 Go de RAM, une carte graphique dédiée abordable, ainsi qu’un écran FHD anti-reflets assez honnête. Il est plutôt robuste, et sa connectique fournie – même s’il n’y a pas de Thunderbolt 3. Il tourne plutôt bien, comme un portable de jeu d’entrée de gamme (mais il faut s'attendre à ce que les jeux à venir ne soient pas aussi jouables que les actuels).

Le Pavilion Power 15t avec un GPU AMD RX550 fonctionne plutôt bien, comme un portable de jeu d’entrée de gamme, mais il n’est pas aisé de le recommander face aux configurations Nvidia GTX 1050 (complétées par un stockage SSD) que nous avons testés il y a quelques semaines – une offre à seulement environ 120 $ de plus.

A noter que même s’il est évolutif, le stockage (un disque dur d’un To à 7 200 tr/min) ralentit l’ensemble, et la carte graphique RX 550 ne fait pas le poids face aux GPU Nvidia Pascal comme la GTX 1050 (qu’il s’agisse des performances ou de l’efficacité énergétique). Pire que tout, nous ne pouvons pas vraiment dire comment le portable devrait fonctionner idéalement, à cause de problèmes sur notre modèle de test, visiblement à cause du refroidissement. Son mauvais fonctionnement affectait les performances du CPU, avec des températures au-delà des 90°C durant nos stress tests, avec des valeurs réduites de 5 % à, dans les cas extrêmes, 57 %.

En supposant que ce problème soit spécifique à notre modèle, la configuration RX 550 reste de toute façon inférieure aux configurations Nvidia GTX 1050. Nous contacterons le distributeur, et mettrons à jour notre test si nous réussissons à tester cette configuration dans des conditions normales.
