Poussé dans ses retranchements. Le P52s est de retour, cette fois avec un meilleur écran et une légère progression de la puissance de calcul. L’écran 4K est-il une véritable amélioration pour le P52s, ou est-il trop exigeant pour le GPU limité ?

Le temps de réponse d'un écran mesure la rapidité à laquelle l'écran est capable de changer une couleur pour une autre. Un temps de réponse élevé se traduit par une image floutée pour les objets en mouvement. Les joueurs bénéficieront de faibles latences d'affichage en jeu.

Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.

Le Lenovo P52s est un appareil singulier. La volonté de Lenovo de marier des composants basse consommation avec un appareil de la classe des stations de travail nécessite de nombreux compromis. Alors que l’on se rapproche de plus en plus d’une station de travail équipée de processeur ULV grâce à la série Kaby Lake R d’Intel, les améliorations à faire à la machine sont encore nombreuses.

La carte graphique est le point faible de la machine, et cela est vraiment navrant puisqu’il s’agit d’une station de travail mobile. La plupart des pros feront mieux de choisir un portable pro équipé d’une Nvidia MX150 ou d’une GTX 1050 permettant de meilleures performances graphiques, sans pour autant sacrifier l’efficience énergétique ou l’autonomie. Par rapport aux autres stations de travail fines et légères, le P52s manque indéniablement de puissance, mais compense cela par une bien meilleure autonomie.

Et cette configuration précise ? L’écran 4K vaut-il vraiment le coup ? Vu la faiblesse de la Quadro P500, la mise à jour ne vaut pas le coup. La plupart des logiciels devront tourner en FHD à cause du manque de ressources graphiques, réduisant les bénéfices d’un écran plus haute résolution. De plus, il y a un certain nombre de problèmes de mise à l’échelle des logiciels avec l’écran 4K.

Finalement, la version 4K du P52s garde les mêmes désavantages que la version Full HD. Pire, certaines de nos critiques sont encore plus vraies à cause de la faiblesse de la carte graphique, des pilotes bogués, et des faibles performances globales de la station de travail.

Ceux qui recherchent une station de travail compacte devraient regarder du côté de Dell ou de MSI. Les autres devraient accepter des machines légèrement plus épaisses, et choisir une station de travail à part entière, comme le ThinkPad P51.
