The Intel Core i3-N305 isn’t as speedy as a more conventional Core i3, but give it 8GB of RAM to work with and it’s not going to slow you down in everyday work. What’s more, it has stamina to spare. Were it not for the slightly chunky design, the less than stellar keyboard and the lack of extra USB-C ports, I’d pitch it as one of the best cost-conscious Chromebooks you can buy. As is, it’s still fantastic value, provided you can live with some minor issues here and there.

Reviews like these are tough to sum up. For the price of $319, you’re getting a computer with a pretty decent display, nice webcam, great battery life, pleasant keyboard, and nice speakers. It’s a nice computer in those respects with some aspects punching above the price tag. However, features like those mentioned above don’t mean much if the performance is bad. It doesn’t matter if the speakers are nice if navigating to the music player is a pain each time. Those features do well to enhance an already strong performance; they don’t make up for poor performance, however. I understand that the MediaTek processor is a more cost-effective offering and it lent to the battery performance, but the software experience was plagued from the start. I think that the performance of a brand-new computer shouldn’t be this bad, no matter how affordable it is. When you part with money for a new computer, no matter how economical it is, you’re still paying for a device that performs specific tasks. If it shows that it can’t perform those tasks, then what’s the point?

The plastic chassis is flexible but again, this is normal for an inexpensive 14-incher. On the other hand, the laptop is light and compact, so the portability is good. Let’s get back to the cooling once again – it has just one fan and one heat pipe, the fan is noisy when the CPU is under long heavy loads (and the temperatures are going above and beyond the 80°C mark), but the processor’s performance is definitely there. The chip can maintain close frequencies to the other two laptops with the same CPU that we have tested so far. In terms of raw power, the laptop is doing a fine job.

In the budget-friendly laptop category, some systems provide surprising value; others cut too close to the bone, leaving the buyer feeling let down. Which one the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is depends entirely on what price point you buy it at. With our review unit selling at some retailers for right around $300, it's a decent little machine for web browsing and day-to-day productivity. Sure, it has a lackluster display, and the performance won't wow anybody, but for the price of a cheap Chromebook, it's a surprisingly capable Windows laptop that throws in a fine port selection. The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 (15″, Gen 8) is a good laptop for daily tasks or normal office usage if you pick a device with the optional IPS display (LEN156FHD (LEN9052)). It has wide viewing angles and a good contrast ratio of 1410:1. The panel is also PWM-free which is great. The sRGB coverage is low but that’s okay given the end price of the notebook. The build quality isn’t that good. Both lid and base can be flexed badly and you can spot a lot of bends even while typing. However, the notebook is thin and light for a 15-incher. It has a profile of 17.9 mm and the starting weight is 1.62 kg. The I/O is fine for such a device – three USB’s and an SD card reader. Sadly, all ports are rated at 5 Gbps. The memory is soldered and the maximum possible amount of 16GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM should be enough for most users, at least for now. Keep in mind that the RAM of the 8GB iterations works in single-channel mode.

So you can see pretty quickly why this device is so likeable. It does nothing to get in its own way. I love the chassis, build quality, screen and keyboard. The trackpad is good (not great), the internals are all I really need, and even the speakers are pretty good. Unless you need a convertible or would rather get a 16:10 screen, there’s nothing this Chromebook misses on. And you feel that each time you pick it up. We made a video before Chromebook Plus was launched and wondered if the non-Chromebook Plus-branded version of this device was a sign of things to come. Of course, we were right in saying this model would get a branded Chromebook Plus sibling, but I didn’t realize at the time just how right the Slim 3i got the whole Chromebook Plus equation. If you are looking for a Plus model that isn’t just good, but seriously great, this is the one you want.

Cependant, ce marathonien fait d'énormes concessions sur tout le reste. Son écran mal calibré, sa partie audio médiocre et ses performances graphiques anémiques le disqualifient pour tout usage multimédia, créatif ou ludique. Il s'adresse donc exclusivement à l'utilisateur nomade ou à l'étudiant au budget serré, qui ne cherche qu'une machine simple pour la bureautique et la navigation web, dont la priorité absolue est de ne jamais tomber à court de batterie.

At $749, the compromises — the display, speakers, webcam, and GPU in particular — feel like they add up fast. On the other hand, this machine is worlds better than the Intel variant I just reviewed. You’re getting a faster CPU, faster GPU, much longer battery life, Wi-Fi 7 support, and an NPU for Copilot+ PC AI features. The laptop runs cooler and quieter. I’d much rather have the Snapdragon hardware in this chassis than that particular Intel chip. While I haven’t seen another Snapdragon laptop or Copilot+ PC with a starting retail price this low, you can often find laptops with more impressive hardware on sale around the $749 price point.

But it’s when almost fully loaded that the IdeaPad Slim 3x is at its giant-killer best: a 2.5K OLED screen, Wi-Fi 7, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD for £670 is spectacular value.

Still, I solved the issue by using Process Lasso. Despite its drawbacks, the IdeaPad Slim 3i 15IRH10 could be a decent companion for daily use. Despite using Intel's 2022 Raptor Lake CPU architecture, Lenovo's laptop is a new 2025 model, so we may see better deals in the future. The IPS display is perfectly adequate for normal tasks, offering good viewing angles and over 300 nits of max brightness. The touchpad is also a solid option, and the keyboard, while not great, is acceptable for casual use. Additionally, noise levels are well-controlled even under heavy CPU load. Unfortunately, all these positives are overshadowed by the fact that the IdeaPad Slim 3 15AHP10 with a Zen 4 R7 8840HS offers better CPU and significantly better iGPU performance, with longer battery life for a similar price.

When I review laptops, I like to ask “Who is this for?”. Even if a laptop doesn’t make sense for most people, there’s usually someone who will love it. But when I look at the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3, I really don’t get it. The design and build quality are nice, and it offers reasonable desktop performance and a better-than-average port selection, unless you scrutinize the specs too closely. But the price of $769 just feels too high for a machine where nothing really shines. If the display looked better or at least wasn’t so dull, I think I could see the argument for this machine. When I look at PCWorld’s list of the best laptops, I see both budget laptops that are much less expensive — and laptops in a similar price range that offer a better experience. On the other hand, if you don’t need all that much from your PC and you find this on sale for less, it’ll do okay. But I can’t recommend the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 at its retail price.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" de la légende anglaise, novo (latin) pour nouveau) a été fondée en 1984 en tant que société chinoise de commerce d'ordinateurs. En 2004, la société était le plus grand fabricant d'ordinateurs portables en Chine et, après l'acquisition de la division PC d'IBM en 2005, le quatrième au monde. En plus des ordinateurs de bureau et des ordinateurs portables, la société fabrique des moniteurs, des projecteurs, des serveurs, etc., et se spécialise dans le développement, la fabrication et la commercialisation d'électronique grand public, d'ordinateurs personnels, de logiciels, de solutions d'entreprise et de services connexes.
En 2016, l'entreprise s'est classée au premier rang mondial des ventes d'ordinateurs. Il le détenait encore en 2023 avec environ 23% de part de marché mondiale. Les gammes de produits importantes sont Thinkpad, Legion et Ideapad.
En 2011, elle a acquis une participation majoritaire dans Medion AG, un fabricant européen de matériel informatique. En 2014, Motorola Mobility a été racheté, ce qui a donné un coup de pouce à Lenovo sur le marché des smartphones.
La plupart des jeux pas trop demandants actuels peuvent tourner de façon fluide. soyez prêts à endurer un rendu graphique assez moche à cause de la basse résolution et des détails au minimum. Par ailleurs ces cartes sont suffisantes pour un travail de bureau et le visionnage de vidéos (pas évident pour la vidéo HD).

ARM Mali-G52 MP2:
Carte graphique intégrée de milieu de gamme avec 2 clusters. ARM affirme que la série G52 est 30 % plus rapide et 15 % plus efficace que la série G51 sur le même nœud de processus.
Ces cartes devraient être capables de faire tourner tout les jeux d'aujourd'hui, mais la plupart d'entre eux uniquement en détails moyens ou faibles et avec des résolution basses. Les plus vieux jeux ou les jeux moins gourmands restent jouables avec de beaux graphismes.

Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 1.7 TFLOPS: L'adaptateur graphique intégré dont est doté le SoC Snapdragon X Plus à 8 cœurs X1P-42-100. Comparé aux iGPU X1-85 de 3,8 TFLOPS et 4,6 TFLOPS plus rapides, celui-ci ne fonctionne pas seulement à des vitesses d'horloge inférieures, mais dispose également de moins de shaders unifiés, 768 étant le chiffre le plus probable. L'architecture sous-jacente ne serait pas très différente de celle de l'Adreno 730. Quant à ses performances de jeu, elles sont tout juste suffisantes pour les jeux d'avant 2020 à des résolutions telles que la HD 720p avec des paramètres graphiques faibles.

i7-13620H: CPU mobile basé sur Alder Lake avec 6 cœurs de performance et 4 cœurs d'efficacité. Les cœurs de performance offrent l'hyper threading, ce qui permet de traiter 16 threads. Le CPU est cadencé entre 1,8 et 4,9 GHz et prend en charge vPro.
Core 5 210H: CPU mobile basé sur Alder Lake avec 4 cœurs de performance et 4 cœurs d'efficacité. Les cœurs de performance offrent l'hyper threading, soit 12 threads de traitement. Le processeur fonctionne à une fréquence maximale de 4,8 GHz.
