Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.

Le rétroéclairage de l'écran scintille à la fréquence de 22730 Hz (certainement du fait de l'utilisation d'une MDI - Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) à un niveau de luminosité inférieur ou égal à 66 % . Aucun scintillement ne devrait être perceptible au-dessus de cette valeur.

La fréquence de rafraîchissement de 22730 Hz est élevée, la grande majorité des utilisateurs ne devrait pas percevoir de scintillements et être sujette à une fatigue oculaire accrue.

L'iMac 27 d'Apple est toujours un bon tout-en-un, offrant un excellent écran 5K et un excellent design. Les haut-parleurs intégrés sont également excellents, et beaucoup d'utilisateurs n'auront pas besoin de haut-parleurs externes.

Les problèmes commencent quand on regarde les performances. Ni le CPU ni le GPU n'exploitent tout leur potentiel, à cause du refroidissement limité. De ce fait, les composants optionnels ne valent pas vraiment le coup. La comparaison du processeur avec les modèles AMD actuels est également problématique, parce qu'ils sont bien plus performants. Nous ne sommes pas satisfaits non plus des ventilateurs qui vrombissent lors de sollicitations combinées.

L'iMac 27 demeure un bon ordinateur tout-en-un en 2020, mais il faudra choisir avec soin ses composants. Le potentiel des composants optionnels n'est pas bien exploité.

Et il y a l'écran nano-texturé. Oui, la surface matte est efficace, et la qualité d'image juste légèrement inférieure à celle des modèles brillants, mais le surcoût est énorme, à plus de 600 €. Si l'iMac vous intéresse néanmoins, vous pourrez économiser l'argent des processeurs et des cartes graphiques optionnels, et prendre plutôt plus de stockage et de RAM.
