Le temps de réponse d'un écran mesure la rapidité à laquelle l'écran est capable de changer une couleur pour une autre. Un temps de réponse élevé se traduit par une image floutée pour les objets en mouvement. Les joueurs bénéficieront de faibles latences d'affichage en jeu.

Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion)

Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.

En comparaison, 53 % des appareils testés n'emploient pas MDI pour assombrir leur écran. Nous avons relevé une moyenne à 8838 (minimum : 43 - maximum : 142900) Hz dans le cas où une MDI était active.

Pas de surprise : l’Acer Predator Helios 500 équipé d’un écran 4K et d’un Intel Core i9-8950HK est un nouvel excellent portable de jeu, offrant la plupart des avantages de la version moins haut-de-gamme. La version i7 moins chère reste néanmoins, à notre avis, le meilleur choix : l’Intel Core i9-8950HK n’est pas vraiment capable d’exploiter toutes ses performances, tout en augmentant la chauffe et la consommation en cas de sollicitations - l’écran 4K y est aussi pour quelque chose. Celui-ci vaut néanmoins le coup, permettant le jeu 4K avec la GeForce GTX 1070. La qualité de l’écran est convaincante, spécialement la couverture de l’espace colorimétrique. D’un autre côté, l’écran Full HD possède un taux de rafraîchissement plus élevé, si bien que chaque écran a ses points forts.

4K au top, flop du Core i9 : alors que l’écran LCD 4K est un atout, le Core i9 est avant tout une perte d’argent.

Au final, nous pouvons recommander l’écran 4K, mais le Core i9 ne vaut pas le coup vu le prix - il ne brillera qu’avec des sollicitations monocœur, ce qui n’est pas important pour le jeu.
