S’il s’agit de remplacer les PC portables de bureau, le ROG Chimera G703 est sur le podium sans aucun souci.
Asus a réalisé une très bonne machine, sans véritable faille. Il faut tout particulièrement mentionner les excellents périphériques d’entrée (dont le clavier avec rétroéclairage RGB), mais aussi la connectique abondante (comme le Thunderbolt 3). L’écran et la qualité sonore sont également convaincants. En particulier l’écran IPS avec sa combinaison 144 GHz – G-Sync est un véritable argument de vente.
Les performances sont également au-delà de tout reproche. Pour justifier le prix élevé du 17 pouces, Asus l’a équipé de composants haut-de-gamme, qu’il s’agisse de la GeForce GTX 1080 ou du Core i7-7820HK, qui peuvent donner le meilleur d’eux-mêmes grâce à l’overclocking. Le SSD RAID et l’abondance de RAM sont aussi à noter.
Les défauts sont son poids, son design épais, la courte autonomie, et les nuisances sonores en 3D (au moins quand la fonction OC est active).
Malgré ces faiblesses, le ROG Chimera arrive en très bonne position dans notre Top 10 des portables de jeu.
