Évaluer et classer l’Acer Swift  a été un vrai défi. Son très faible poids de moins de 1 kg est un très gros avantage, mais à cause d’un écran peu lumineux et très sensible aux reflets, la portabilité n’est pas son fort.

Parmi les aspects positifs, on compte l’écran plus qu’honnête (exception faite de la luminosité), le tactile, le SSD rapide, et la faible consommation.

Mais les aspects négatifs s’avèrent gênants. Plus particulièrement le throttling conséquent réduit considérablement les performances de l'appareil - tout en fournissant l’explication de la faible consommation. Le Swift 5 gère très bien les courtes sollicitations, mais sombre en cas de fortes sollicitations continues, un compromis rendu nécessaire par son poids-plume. Même son prédécesseur était plus rapide… Un autre sacrifice dû au poids de l’appareil, est la capacité de la batterie, et donc son autonomie. Enfin, la qualité de construction est loin d’être parfaite.

L’Acer Swift 5 est un bon compromis si la légèreté est importante. Il s’adresse au groupe particulier de ceux qui préfèrent un ordinateur portable ultraléger à un ultrabook performant.

Malgré sa cible spécifique, nous considérons le throttling extrême comme devant être absolument corrigé. Il faudra également que le prochain modèle de la série possède un écran de qualité comparable, mais plus lumineux.
