L’Asus VivoBook 17 M712DA est un portable simple pour ceux qui ont besoin d’un grand écran et d’assez de performances pour faire tourner divers logiciels de bureautique. L’appareil ne peut être utilisé pour l’édition d’image professionnelle, à cause des espaces colorimétriques limités. Les amateurs pourront néanmoins utiliser l’appareil occasionnellement pour améliorer une photo ou deux. En théorie, le PC portable est même assez puissant pour faire tourner des jeux peu exigeants.

Le VivoBook 17 M712DA possède un potentiel largement inexploité.

En plus d’un clavier très simple et d’un châssis en plastique, une autre faiblesse majeure du VivoBook 17 est son autonomie très réduite, de seulement 3h. Ce n’est en aucun cas un bon résultat. Et le fait qu’il n’y ait qu’un lecteur micro SD, et très lent, dans une machine aussi grande, est difficile à avaler. Le processeur aurait également pu être plus rapide s’il avait été mieux configuré. Au final, le prix et le niveau de performances seront suffisants pour ceux qui n’ont pas besoin d’un écran très fidèle pour l’édition d’image. Mais il faut avouer que le potentiel de la machine et de ses composants n’est pas totalement exploité - et le cas contraire n’aurait pas nécessairement signifié une hausse du prix.
