Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Le MSI Prestige s’avère être un portable contrasté dans nos tests. Les performances sont bonnes, mais chutent un peu plus que lors de notre prise en main en septembre 2019. L’écran est déjà très bien calibré en sortie d’usine, et possède un bon contraste, mais les noirs légèrement augmentés et les progrès faits par la concurrence viennent ternir l’image notre appareil. Les deux ports Thunderbolt 3 sont très intéressants, mais le fait que l’un des deux soit bloqué par le chargeur et que les ports USB A restants ne soient qu’à la norme 2.0 n’est pas génial. Comme il n’y a pas de port HDMI, les deux ports Thunderbolt seront bloqués dans un certain nombre de cas –la présence d’une station d’accueil remédiera à ces problèmes.

Le MSI Prestige 14 est puissant. Mais il fait également des compromis.

Il est vrai que nous pinaillons quelque peu en disant cela. Le Prestige 14 est performant pour sa taille, et s’avère bien équipé pour son prix. Ce sont les possibilités de maintenance qui sont quand même limitées, et les compromis qui ont dû être faits, par exemple en ce qui concerne l’autonomie avec l’écran 4K, doivent être pris en compte par le client potentiel au moment de l’achat. Ceux qui s’orienteront vers ce portable ne seront pas déçus, mais il est quand même recommandé de jeter un œil à la concurrence.
