L'absence de ventilateur a un prix. Il est bien connu que les produits vendus sous la bannière "Porsche Design" n’offrent pas nécessairement un bon rapport prix / performances. Tant que les composants et que la qualité sont de bonne qualité, cela n’est pas trop gênant pour les clients au portefeuille bien rempli. Le Porsche Design Ultra One, cependant, possède deux défauts qui interféreront avec de longues sessions de travail. Notre test va revenir dessus.

Le temps de réponse d'un écran mesure la rapidité à laquelle l'écran est capable de changer une couleur pour une autre. Un temps de réponse élevé se traduit par une image floutée pour les objets en mouvement. Les joueurs bénéficieront de faibles latences d'affichage en jeu.

Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion)

Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.

En comparaison, 51 % des appareils testés n'emploient pas MDI pour assombrir leur écran. Nous avons relevé une moyenne à 13573 (minimum : 43 - maximum : 2500000) Hz dans le cas où une MDI était active.

Le Porsche Design Ultra One est très cher. Et pour un prix très élevé, le portable sans ventilateur possède un châssis très robuste, un écran tactile, et 16 Go de RAM, ainsi qu’un SSD de 1 To. Les performances suffiront pour un usage bureautique classique, et s’avèrent à la hauteur de ce que les composants permettent. Des machines comme le VAIO A12-92993 ou le HP Spectre Folio 13-ak0020ng ont déjà suivi un chemin similaire, et ont été bien accueillis par le public.

Porsche Design aurait dû installer un écran antireflet et un SSD de meilleure qualité dans l’Ultra One, pour mieux justifier son prix.

Son design et son silence sont probablement les principaux arguments de l’Ultra One. Le portable n’est cependant pas excellent en ce qui concerne le niveau sonore, le SSD intégré faisant un bruit gênant, même pour ceux qui ont des oreilles peu sensibles. Et l’écran très sensible aux reflets ne ravira pas tous les yeux. Ces deux points rendent l’utilisation du Porsche Design Ultra One si gênante que le prix ne semble en aucun cas justifié…
