Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.

Verdict - Le roi du milieu de gamme

Avec le Pixel 4a, Google a réussi à créer un smartphone efficace avec beaucoup de qualités et peu de défauts. Les performances globales et la batterie sont bonnes pour un smartphone du milieu de gamme, et les 128 Go de stockage conduisant à l'abandon de l'emplacement micro SD n'est pas si grave. Les performances de l'appareil photo sont quant à elles au niveau des plus gros Pixel 4, et restent sans rivales à ce niveau de prix. La taille de l'écran, de "seulement" 5,8 pouces en fait également l'un des appareils les plus compacts actuellement disponibles.

Le Pixel 4a est un smartphone Google à petit prix qui devrait séduire en particulier les fans de smartphones compacts.

Le Pixel 4a mérite des félicitations pour son écran très lumineux. Grâce à la dalle OLED, il propose des couleurs vives et un contraste de premier ordre. Cependant les personnes sensibles au scintillement MLI noteront la faible fréquence de scintillement. D'un point de vue totalement subjectif, l'auteur de ces lignes a déjà utilisé des smartphones plus fatigants pour les yeux que le Pixel 4a, malgré des fréquences de scintillement plus élevées. Au final, sur ce sujet, seul un essai permet de trancher...
