Courte critique du HTC Desire 12s : un smartphone rayé

Mise à jour courageuse ? HTC, l’un des pionniers de l’ère des smartphones, semble s’enfoncer toujours un peu plus dans l’oubli, les années passant… Au moins, le fabricant taiwanais met maintenant à jour sa gamme du milieu de gamme et propose le HTC Desire 12s, un smartphone à environ 200 $. Est-ce suffisant pour renouveler notre intérêt ?

Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion)

Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.
Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) décelé 100 Hz ≤ 20 Niveau de luminosité

Le rétroéclairage de l'écran scintille à la fréquence de 100 Hz (certainement du fait de l'utilisation d'une MDI - Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) à un niveau de luminosité inférieur ou égal à 20 % . Aucun scintillement ne devrait être perceptible au-dessus de cette valeur.

La fréquence de rafraîchissement de 100 Hz est extrêmement faible, de grands risques de fatigue oculaire accrue et de maux de tête en cas d'utilisation prolongée.

En comparaison, 51 % des appareils testés n'emploient pas MDI pour assombrir leur écran. Nous avons relevé une moyenne à 9354 (minimum : 43 - maximum : 142900) Hz dans le cas où une MDI était active.

Temps de réponse de l'écran

Le temps de réponse d'un écran mesure la rapidité à laquelle l'écran est capable de changer une couleur pour une autre. Un temps de réponse élevé se traduit par une image floutée pour les objets en mouvement. Les joueurs bénéficieront de faibles latences d'affichage en jeu.

Les flagships HTC étaient avant considérés comme étant à la pointe de l’innovation, mais le terne Desire 12s est l’exact opposé de cela. Le seul élément qui lui permet de se démarquer est son dos rayé. Autrement, le 12s n’est rien de mieux qu’un smartphone classique du milieu de gamme. Son problème est que d’autres fabricants proposent de meilleurs composant au même prix, une plus grosse batterie et des performances supérieures (Huawei) ou une meilleure connectivité, avec NFC et lecteur de carte micro SD (Nokia 4.2Nokia 4.2).

Le HTC Desire 12s propose quant à lui un écran plutôt lumineux, un GPS plutôt précis, et une autonomie correcte. Il manque de points forts, et souffre d’une teinte bleue à l’écran, de températures élevées en cas de sollicitations, et de déconnexions constantes du Wifi. HTC doit améliorer la partie logicielle rapidement, et une mise à jour pourrait être une façon facile d’améliorer la qualité et la valeur du Desire 12s.

Le HTC Desire 12s est un smartphone du milieu de gamme élégant et bien conçu, mais qui ne mérite pas de recommandation.

Vu les alternatives, on ne peut en rien recommander le Desire 12s. Peut-être une fois les mises à jour faites, vers une version récente et à jour d’Android, et les problèmes de Wifi réglés.

À cause des déconnexions Wifi gênantes et constantes, nous avons réduit la note générale de 2 %.
