Courte critique du PC portable Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G-509A (8250U, MX130, FHD)

Echec ou succès ? Une GeForce MX130 ? Pour l’instant, seuls deux fabricants de portables ont intégré cette version revue à la baisse de la MX150. L’un d’eux est Acer, qui utilise cette combinaison rare d’un i5-8250U et d’une MX130 dans son Aspire 5 de 15 pouces. Nous verrons entre autres dans notre test quelles sont les véritables gains graphiques, et si cet Acer est fait uniquement pour le travail ou également pour le jeu.

Le temps de réponse d'un écran mesure la rapidité à laquelle l'écran est capable de changer une couleur pour une autre. Un temps de réponse élevé se traduit par une image floutée pour les objets en mouvement. Les joueurs bénéficieront de faibles latences d'affichage en jeu.

Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion)

Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.
Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) décelé 25970 Hz ≤ 19 Niveau de luminosité

Le rétroéclairage de l'écran scintille à la fréquence de 25970 Hz (certainement du fait de l'utilisation d'une MDI - Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) à un niveau de luminosité inférieur ou égal à 19 % . Aucun scintillement ne devrait être perceptible au-dessus de cette valeur.

La fréquence de rafraîchissement de 25970 Hz est élevée, la grande majorité des utilisateurs ne devrait pas percevoir de scintillements et être sujette à une fatigue oculaire accrue.

En comparaison, 54 % des appareils testés n'emploient pas MDI pour assombrir leur écran. Nous avons relevé une moyenne à 10372 (minimum : 43 - maximum : 588200) Hz dans le cas où une MDI était active.

Vu de façon globale, l’Acer Aspire 5 aurait pu faire un solide portable multimédia, si l’écran n’avait pas tout gâché. Nous aurions excusé ses petites faiblesses comme la présence d’un seul port USB A 3.0, ou les médiocres taux de transfert WLAN. Avec son châssis légèrement encombrant et ses deux trappes de maintenance, l’Aspire ne paraît pas spécialement négligé. Malgré son prix, le clavier et le touchpad sont d’un niveau acceptable.

Mais le gros point faible de l’appareil est clairement son écran, qui fait plonger l’Acer dans notre évaluation. La luminosité, le contraste, la valeur des noirs et la fidélité des couleurs sont indéniablement mauvais, tout comme la faible stabilité des angles de vision.

Cela fait également perdre à l’Aspire des points dans le domaine de la mobilité, puisque l’on ne peut presque rien voir sur l’écran mat au soleil, même avec la luminosité maximale. En ce qui concerne les performances graphiques, nous pouvons dire d’une part que la présence d’une carte graphique dédiée est toujours un plus, mais d’autre part qu’il ne faut pas en attendre trop de la Nvidia GeForce MX130. Celle-ci est clairement moins performante que la MX150, n’étant qu’une GeForce 940MX rebaptisée. Les joueurs ne devraient donc pas trop compter sur l’Aspire 5, mais ceux qui ne voudraient jouer que de façon occasionnelle, et qui cherchent un 15 pouces avec des performances solides pour la maison, qui possèderait aussi un emplacement 2,5 pouces libre pour un disque dur supplémentaire, pourraient trouver leur bonheur avec l’abordable Aspire 5 d’Acer.
