Courte critique du PC portable Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 13.3 2018 (i5-8250U MX150)

Mise à niveau. Un processeur quatre cœurs et une MX150 dans un portable qui ne pèse que 1,3 kg : le fabricant chinois a mis à niveau son Air de 2018, à un niveau comparable à celui du Mi Notebook Pro. Malgré ces spécifications identiques, les deux appareils n’ont pas des performances du même niveau, comme notre test le montre assez clairement.

Le temps de réponse d'un écran mesure la rapidité à laquelle l'écran est capable de changer une couleur pour une autre. Un temps de réponse élevé se traduit par une image floutée pour les objets en mouvement. Les joueurs bénéficieront de faibles latences d'affichage en jeu.

Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion)

Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.

Le rétroéclairage de l'écran scintille à la fréquence de 220 Hz (certainement du fait de l'utilisation d'une MDI - Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) à un niveau de luminosité inférieur ou égal à 18 % (100 cd/m²) . Aucun scintillement ne devrait être perceptible au-dessus de cette valeur.

La fréquence de rafraîchissement de 220 Hz est relativement faible, les personnes les plus sensibles devraient percevoir un scintillement et être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire accrue (avec le niveau de luminosité indiqué)

Le scintillement ne se produit qu'avec un niveau de luminosité relativement faible. Le symptôme devrait être imperceptible en pratique. Une utilisation en milieu fermé peut entraîner une fatigue oculaire.

En comparaison, 54 % des appareils testés n'emploient pas MDI pour assombrir leur écran. Nous avons relevé une moyenne à 9953 (minimum : 43 - maximum : 588200) Hz dans le cas où une MDI était active.

L’un des arguments pour importer un produit directement depuis la Chine est le prix. Mais il faut surmonter plusieurs obstacles. En particulier, il faut être prêt à acheter un appareil sans pouvoir y jeter un œil dans un magasin physique, et donc en se basant uniquement sur les différents avis en ligne. Au moins nous pouvons vous assurer que la qualité du Mi Notebook Air n’est pas mauvaise. Gardez en tête que les frais de port, ainsi que les taxes douanière et d’importation peuvent rendre l’appareil beaucoup plus cher, et que l’utilisation de la garantie peut vite se transformer en cauchemar. Une fois l’appareil commandé, expédié et reçu, il faudra rapidement changer la version chinoise de Windows – sauf pour les spécialistes du Mandarin.

De façon générale, le Mi Notebook Air équipé d’une MX150 est plutôt correct. Malgré son châssis fin et compact, le processeur est capable de fournir de courts pics de puissance, et les performances de la carte graphique sont acceptables pour nombre de jeux actuels.

Malheureusement, la chaleur et le bruit sont trop élevés en cas de sollicitations. Le Mi Notebook Air aurait gagné à avoir un nouveau châssis. Les températures extérieures élevées, le thermal throttling et les performances CPU chutant rapidement sont l’indication d’un châssis vite dépassé par ses puissants composants. Le choix d’une MX150 de 10 W n’aide pas non plus. La version 15 pouces peut être un meilleur choix pour ceux qui veulent un appareil puissant.

L’écran de 13 pouces est très bon, même s’il est brillant et très sensible aux reflets. Ceux qui voudraient l’utiliser de façon sédentaire, connecté à un écran externe, doivent avoir à l’esprit la limitation du port HDMI à 30 Hz. Alors que le port USB C prend en charge le 60 Hz, il sera très certainement utilisé pour la charge. L’autonomie est inférieure à la moyenne, et plus ou moins du même niveau que le modèle précédent plus lent.

Les alternatives équipés d’une MX150 ne sont pas légion au niveau de prix du Mi Air, ce qui rend tout de suite l’appareil beaucoup plus intéressant. Le Lenovo Ideapad 320s (13 pouces, Core i5-8250U) est plus lent dans les benchmarks CPU et GPU, et le HP Envy 13, à la puissance graphique similaire (grâce à sa MX150), repasse derrière en termes de puissance du processeur, à cause de son CPU double cœur i7-7500 plus ancien (son score est moins élevé de 32 % dans le test Cinebenchech multicœur, mais il est au même niveau dans PCMark). La 7e génération de processeurs Intel avec deux cœurs est de toutes façons un peu dépassée en 2018.

Ainsi, pour ceux qui cherchent un ultraportable de 13 pouces abodable capable de jouer, et qui n’ont pas peur de tenter l’aventure d’une importation chinoise, le Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air peut être une bonne affaire. Nous conseillons quand même de jeter un œil au plus gros Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro de 15 pouces (Core i5-8250U, GeForce MX150), qui possède un meilleur système de refroidissement.
