Qui l’a inventé ? Trouver les différences de certains avec le design Apple est de plus en plus difficile, surtout avec les marques chinoises. Avec le Mi Notebook Pro, Xiaomi copie le MacBook Pro, au moins en termes de look. A un prix inférieur à 1 000 €, l’appareil propose un équipement efficace avec un processeur quatre cœurs, une carte graphique dédiée, et un châssis en aluminium réussi. Mais qu’en est-il vraiment, au-delà des apparences ?

Le temps de réponse d'un écran mesure la rapidité à laquelle l'écran est capable de changer une couleur pour une autre. Un temps de réponse élevé se traduit par une image floutée pour les objets en mouvement. Les joueurs bénéficieront de faibles latences d'affichage en jeu.

Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion)

Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.
Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) décelé 21800 Hz ≤ 99 Niveau de luminosité

Le rétroéclairage de l'écran scintille à la fréquence de 21800 Hz (certainement du fait de l'utilisation d'une MDI - Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) à un niveau de luminosité inférieur ou égal à 99 % . Aucun scintillement ne devrait être perceptible au-dessus de cette valeur.

La fréquence de rafraîchissement de 21800 Hz est élevée, la grande majorité des utilisateurs ne devrait pas percevoir de scintillements et être sujette à une fatigue oculaire accrue.

En comparaison, 51 % des appareils testés n'emploient pas MDI pour assombrir leur écran. Nous avons relevé une moyenne à 9331 (minimum : 43 - maximum : 142900) Hz dans le cas où une MDI était active.

Il faut bien admettre que nous avons été plutôt bien surpris par le Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro. Le châssis rappelle fortement le design emblématique d’un certain fabricant californien. En aluminium de haute qualité, il paraît robuste et bien fini. Ce n’est qu’en y regardant de plus près que nous avons découvert les arrêtes vives au bas de l’appareil, ainsi qu’une rapidité d’usure élevée.

En ce qui concerne la connectivité, l’absence de Thunderbolt 3 et la possibilité de recharger l’appareil que grâce à un seul des deux ports USB C peuvent être gênantes. Frustrant même, vu que les deux ports USB A sont du côté gauche et les deux ports USB C du côté droit. Comme d’habitude votre utilisation déterminera si cela est gênant ou non - mais cela manque de flexibilité. Le lecteur de carte SD est vraiment lent, et le Wifi plutôt correct, même si en théorie le modem Wifi Intel utilisé peut faire mieux. Le stockage SSD secondaire et optionnel est vraiment le bienvenu. Malheureusement, les deux emplacements M.2 ne sont connectés qu’avec deux lignes PCIe, et sont de ce fait plutôt lents.

Le Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro est un appareil bien fait. Dommage qu’il ne puisse être officiellement acheté ailleurs qu’en Chine.

Le clavier et le touchpad sont tout à fait honnêtes. La frappe est agréable et silencieuse, le touchpad possède une très bonne capacité de glisse, et le lecteur d’empreintes est rapide et fiable. Le seul point faible est la disposition QWERTY du clavier, mais cela dépend également de l’utilisation de chacun. L’écran est assez lumineux et contrasté. La fidélité des couleurs n’est pas mauvaise, mais peut être améliorée en calibrant. Alors que le Xiaomi utilise la MLI pour ajuster la luminosité, celle-ci ne devrait pas être un problème puisque sa fréquence est très élevée.

Le processeur ULV quatre cœurs combiné avec un GPU Nvidia forme un tandem puissant. Ceci dit, le Mi Pro a été incapable de tirer le meilleur parti de ces composants, et n'a pas comblé nos attentes. Le but de Xiomi semble être de garder des températures et un bruit réduit même au bout de longues périodes de sollicitations soutenues, plutôt que d’améliorer les performances. Ainsi seule une poignée de jeux peu exigeants pourra tourner fluidement en Full HD et avec un niveau de détails élevés, si bien que les joueurs devront chercher ailleurs : le Mi Pro n’est pas un portable de jeu.

Avec plus de 10 heures dans notre test Wifi, à une luminosité réglée de 150 cd/m², l’autonomie est plutôt honnête. Les deux haut-parleurs Harman Infinity sont quant à eux très bons.
