Portable d'entrée de gamme peu cher. Sans originalité, sans surprise, et sans imagination. Pour les utilisateurs à la recherche d’un portable à bas prix sans fioritures, cela pourrait être parfait. L’Inspiron 15 5584 est de série équipé d’un CPU Whiskey Lake U, d’un écran IPS 1080p et d’un SSD PCIe, pour seulement 500 $, ce qui en fait une véritable aubaine.

Nous apprécions que l’Inspiron 15 5584 intègre de série tout ce qu’il faudrait avoir sur les portables à bas prix. Un SSD principal, un écran IPS 1080p, et des bordures d’écran étroites sont le minimum pour tout portable multimédia lancé en 2019 - c’est agréable de voir Dell passer outre les HDD et autres dalles 768p.

Il faut néanmoins garder à l’esprit qu’il y a des défauts. Mis à part l’USB C optionnel, le système est peu adapté aux nomades à cause de son écran sombre, son clickpad mou, son autonomie inférieure à la moyenne, et son épaisseur, comparé aux Pavilion 15 et Aspire 5. C’est plus un portable d’intérieur avec quelques déplacements. Les joueurs occasionnels également devront regarder ailleurs, ou considérer les versions AMD Ryzen, le système ne proposant pas de carte graphique en option, à la différence des alternatives HP ou Acer mentionnées. Nous espérons que les futures versions intégreront l’USB C de série à la fois pour les données et la charge, amélioreront le retour du clickpad et augmenteront la taille du pavé numérique et des touches des flèches, sans impacter le prix attractif de la série.

Une solution abordable pour le multimédia ou la bureautique. Nous recommandons de choisir la version Core i5-8265U sur la version Core i7-8565U, le gain de performances du Core i7 étant au mieux minimal pour ce type de châssis. L’argent ainsi économisé pourra être utilisé pour acheter plus de RAM ou plus de stockage.
