Le XPS 13 9380 est un ultraportable robuste qui règle enfin le problème de l’emplacement de la webcam des séries 9360 et 9370. Tout ce que nous appréciions et regrettions sur la série 9370 reste vrai. Nous nous sommes donc plutôt intéressés à la question de savoir si la version Core i7 valait le coup par rapport à la version Core i5.

Choisir la configuration Core i7 n’apportera qu’un gain de performances moyen de 10 %, pour 250 € de plus. Cela n’aurait pas été mauvais si Dell avait également doublé RAM ou le stockage entre les deux versions, mais ce n’est pas le cas. Nous conseillons donc fortement de choisir la version Core i5, et d’investir plutôt pour une garantie plus longue ou pour plus de RAM.

Ceux qui préféreraient quand même la version Core i7 trouverons que l’autonomie et les températures ne diffèrent presque pas de la version Core i5. Les ventilateurs sont plus bruyants, mais seulement en cas de grosses sollicitations, si bien que le petit gain de performances processeur n’a pas de contrepartie majeure.

La version la plus chère du XPS 13 est plus puissante que la version du milieu de gamme, mais la différence est relativement mineure par rapport à la différence de prix. Nous recommandons d’investir cet argent sur des éléments plus intéressants, comme de la RAM ou du stockage additionnels, ou l’écran tactile 4K UHD.
