Courte critique du PC portable Asus TUF FX504GD (Core i5-8300H, GTX 1050)

Jeu d’entrée de gamme. Asus rend sa série bon marché FX encore plus abordable en réduisant la capacité de la batterie, la puissance de la carte graphique et le nombre de ports. Le résultat final est évidemment plus léger pour le portefeuille, mais l’écran TN et le HDD principal tirent l’ensemble vers le bas.

Nous accueillons les portables de jeu moins chers pour autant qu’ils préservent les fonctionnalités de base, et proposent une expérience équilibrée. Trop voir à la baisse, et les inconvénients deviennent gênants. Pour 700 €, le FX504 sacrifie l’écran et le SSD, ce qui débouche sur une expérience globale en retrait. Pour 100 ou 200 $ de plus, on aura un petit SSD et un écran de qualité.

Les portables de jeux existants équipés d’un i5-7300HQ ou d’un i7-7700HQ n’ont pas besoin de passer aux i5-8300H si le jeu est une priorité. Le passage à un i7-7700HQ et à une GTX 1060 est beaucoup plus fructueux qu’un modèle avec un i5-8300H et une GTX 1050 ou 1050 Ti.

Le FX504 fait moins bien que la concurrence. Le Legion Y520, le Sabre 15 ou l’Inspiron 7577 possèdent une meilleure autonomie, et une meilleure connectivité - dont des ports USB C et des lecteurs de carte SD. Les joueurs au budget serré pourraient aussi préférer le FX503, celui-ci étant très proche mais avec une maintenance plus aisée, une plus grosse batterie, et des possibilités de processeurs et de cartes graphiques plus équilibrées.

Le FX504GD est l’un des portables les moins chers disponibles avec une GTX 1050. Néanmoins nous recommandons de dépenser un peu plus pour avoir une version un peu meilleure, avec écran IPS et SSD, ou de choisir le FX503 plus ancien mais équipé d’une GTX 1060, pour un prix équivalent.
