Voyageur bon marché. A la façon d’Acer, le TravelMate X3410 est une alternative low-cost aux autres portables pro populaires. Alors qu’il fait certains compromis en ce qui concerne le design, le clavier et les performances, l’ensemble est néanmoins réussi, pour ceux qui ont un budget limité.

Le temps de réponse d'un écran mesure la rapidité à laquelle l'écran est capable de changer une couleur pour une autre. Un temps de réponse élevé se traduit par une image floutée pour les objets en mouvement. Les joueurs bénéficieront de faibles latences d'affichage en jeu.

Scintillement / MLI (Modulation de largeur d'impulsion)

Afin d'abaisser la luminosité de l'écran, certains ordinateurs portables font varier très rapidement le rétroéclairage entre éteint et allumé. La fréquence à laquelle le rétroéclairage s'éteint et se rallume est normalement fixée à une valeur qui permet de rendre la variation indétectable à l'œil nu? Si la fréquence est trop basse, certaines personnes peuvent être sujettes à une fatigue oculaire, des maux de tête ou même percevoir les variations.

Le rétroéclairage de l'écran scintille à la fréquence de 25000 Hz (certainement du fait de l'utilisation d'une MDI - Modulation de largeur d'impulsion) à un niveau de luminosité inférieur ou égal à 21 % . Aucun scintillement ne devrait être perceptible au-dessus de cette valeur.

La fréquence de rafraîchissement de 25000 Hz est élevée, la grande majorité des utilisateurs ne devrait pas percevoir de scintillements et être sujette à une fatigue oculaire accrue.

L’Acer TravelMate X3410 est un bon exemple de compromis. Pour 1 300 $, il possède un châssis robuste et portable, un bon niveau de stockage (512 Go), et des performances suffisantes pour la bureautique. Cela dit, l’appareil fait un peu moins bien dans presque toutes les catégories que ses rivaux, en particulier que les ThinkPad T480s de Lenovo, Latitude 7490 de Dell, et EliteBook 840 G5 de HP.

Le clavier du TravelMate est réactif mais paraît bon marché, l’écran est peu lumineux et granuleux, et les performances subissent un throttling élevé sans bonne raison. L’autonomie est excellente, mais certains rivaux (comme le ThinkPad T480) proposent différentes configurations.

Tout compte fait, le TravelMate X3410 est un portable professionnel satisfaisant. Ceux qui ont un budget réduit et qui veulent une machine professionnelle fine et légère, et qui ne sont pas gênés par les compromis faits dans certains domaines importants, pourront se tourner du côté de l’Acer TravelMate X3410, mais les autres feront mieux de dépenser quelques centaines d’euros de plus pour avoir une meilleure machine.
