The $1,899 asking price of the Aero 15 seems relatively steep when you consider just the hardware. The Acer Predator Helios 300 as we tested it was $800 less, yet had the same processor, GPU, amount of RAM, and screen resolution as our Aero 15. From a purely price-to-performance perspective, the Aero 15 isn’t all that impressive. But properly framed in the context of its design, overall quality, long battery life, and extras like the RGB-backlit keyboard, it’s hard to argue that the value proposition isn’t there. It’s well worth a first, second, and third look.

All in the all this baby is hot. My best friend/housemate is currently in the market for a new notebook and I imagine this would be the ideal one for her. It is small and slim enough for her to take to work and travel with while it has enough stuff under the hood to allow her to game. She also digs the look of it. It really is a sexy little piece of hardware. However, all that power does come with a price. You’re looking at a starting cost of about R30 000 for this baby (which, in all honesty, is what you’re paying for the equivalent MacBook and that doesn’t let you game).

On pourrait lui reprocher une résolution qui n’est pas d’actualité mais sur une dalle de cette taille, est-ce utile ? L’ensemble de la machine se distingue par sa classe, même le chargeur est compact et présente un petit port USB. Gigabyte a vraiment été loin de dans le soucis du détail…

Déjà la fin... Comme vous l’aurez compris, le charme opère toujours autant avec cette version 2018… Le châssis est toujours aussi agréable et plaisant. La partie clavier est bonne, perfectible car toujours autant étroite. Encore une fois, Gigabyte nous livre une copie parfaite de ce que devrait être un PC portable polyvalent. Très bonne surprise du combo Nvidia GTX 1060 et du dernier Intel i7-8750H qui se sont montrés très performants, surtout en BENCH où il rattrape des machines plus imposantes. Le PC nous a surpris par sa puissance que ce soit en jeu ou sur des applications lourdes. Notre premier de la classe nous a montré tout son potentiel.

With powerful internals and a gorgeous exterior the Gigabyte Aero 15W V8 won't look out of place in the work place or a LAN party. While we lament the lack of an HDD we recognise it would have added weight to a slim machine. The heat we feel through the keyboard becomes uncomfortable and that also loses this notebook some points. The display is the real star here and it alone earns the 15W V8 a recommendation from us.

The company made it even better with tweaks to the touchpad and elsewhere, and the only shortcoming in this particular model (or any 4K laptop) is the battery life. It's also costly, but again, the price should hold up to rivals. Overall, the Aero 15 Y9 is an easy laptop to recommend.

Gigabyte improved on the overall performance, thermals, and noise levels from the previous generation, which now add up to its existing strong suits, such as the sturdy build quality, the complete IO and inputs, the large battery and the multitude of available configurations. I'm just not sold on the OLED screen choice though, it looks awesome, but it's an expensive option and I'm warry of the technology's long term reliability in a laptop implementation, with all the static content that it has to display.

The display on our AERO 15 OLED YD is fantastic and must be seen to really appreciate its true glory. The Samsung AMOLED display provides excellent brightness, higher contrast ratio and supports a higher colour gamut. If screen quality is a top priority then this laptop is an obvious choice.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Mobile:

Processeur basé sur l'architecture Comet Lake pour les ordinateurs portables lourds et volumineux. Intègre huit cœurs de processeur cadencés à 3,1 - 5 GHz qui prennent en charge HyperThreading. Fabriqué selon un processus amélioré de 14 nm (14 nm++). Au moment de l'annonce, le i9-10980HK est le processeur Comet Lake-H et le processeur pour ordinateur portable le plus rapide du marché. Grâce au multiplicateur libre, le processeur peut également être facilement overclocké (mais peut ne pas avoir beaucoup de marge de manœuvre).

SoC octa-core haut de gamme basé sur Tiger Lake (série H45) pour les ordinateurs portables de jeu et les stations de travail. Les huit cœurs de l'unité centrale fonctionnent entre 2,3 GHz et 4,6 GHz. Le GPU graphique UHD intégré offre 32 UE jusqu'à 1,45 GHz. La puce est fabriquée sur le processus Intel SuperFin de 10 nm de deuxième génération.
