Intel 640LM

Le Intel Core i7-640LM est un processeur puissant et peu gourmand (avec Turbo Mode) cadencé de 2.16 à 2.93 GHz selon. Il fait partie de la génération Nehalem (Westemere). L'Hyperthreading Permet l'usage de 4 coeurs. Comparé au Core i7-620M, le 640LM est plus lent mais consomme beaucoup moins.

Le Core i7-640LM possède une carte graphique intégrée (Intel HD Graphics) et un contrôleur mémoire. Ils sont sur des puces séparées de 45nm alors que le CPU est gravé en 32nm.

Grâce au contrôleur mémoire intégré, l'HyperThreading et le Turbo Boost, le Core i5-640LM est bien pus rapide que les Core 2 Duo dans toutes les applications et benchmarks. Les performances sont au niveau du Core i5-430M.

Les cores gravés en 32nm de la génération Westmere supporte l'accélération matérielle des codes AES. Mais ils sont désactivés dans le Core i5-430M ce qui mène à des baisse de performances dans certaines applications de communication notamment.

La carte graphique intégrée Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD (GMA HD) est cadencée entre 266-566 MHz (Turbo Boost) soit assez élevé pour sa gamme. Cela reste toujours plus puissant que la GMA 4500MHD.

Avec sa consommation de 25 Watt TDP (max.) le rendu de performances est clairement supérieures aux processeur précédents.
