Intel 3612QM

Le Intel Core i7-3612QM est un puissant processeur quad-core pour ordinateur portable basé sur l’architecture Ivy Bridge. C’est le processeur mobile le plus rapide avec un TDP de 35 Watt (à la mi-2012). Grace à la technologie Hyperthreading, les quatre cœurs peuvent gérer jusqu’à huit tâches à la fois pour une meilleure utilisation du processeur. Chaque cœur offre une fréquence de base de 2.1 GHz mais peut augmenter dynamiquement sa fréquence grâce à la technologie Turbo Boost jusqu’à 2.8 GHz (pour 4 cœurs actifs), 3.0 GHz (pour 2 cœurs actifs) et 3.1 GHz (avec un seul cœur actif). Comparé aux autres quad core, le 3612QM possède un TDP de 35 Watt (plus proche des processeurs dual core). La version BGA (qui est directement soudée à la carte mère) supporte la virtualisation VT-d, alors que la version rPGA ne le fait pas. Mais les deux ne supportent pas vPro, sinon tous les processeurs Ivy Bridge possède des fonctions comme AES ou VT-x.

Ivy Bridge est une réduction/amélioration de puce de l'architecture Sandy Bridge avec des améliorations à la fois au niveau du processeur et de la carte graphique intégrée. Le processeur est gravé en 22nm (contre 32nm pour Sandy Bridge) et ils sont les premiers à introduire des transistors en 3 dimensions pour un efficacité énergétique améliorée comparé à un processeur Sandy Bridge de même fréquence. Avec aussi d'autres particularités comme le port PCI Express 3.0 et le support DDR3(L)-1600.

Les performances du Core i7-3612QM devrait être relativement proche d’un processeur Sandy Bridge de même fréquence avec de légers changements architecturaux. Ce qui fait que les performances devraient être plus importante que le Sandy Bridge Core i7-2820QM. Bien que le 3612QM soit sur le papier meilleur que le 3610QM, il est en fait plus lent. Cependant, le 3610QM est censé avoir un TDP plus élevé de 45 Watts.

La carte graphique intégrée, la Intel HD Graphics 4000, possède 16 unités d’exécution (EUs) cadencées de 350 MHz à 1050 MHz avec Turbo Boost, avec des performances comparables à une AMD Radeon HD 6620G.

Avec un TDP de seulement 35 Watt, le Core i7-3612QM est le premier processeur quad-core de chez Intel avec un niveau de consommation électrique équivalent aux modèles Dual Core. Ce qui permet à des ordinateurs portables plus petits de faire fonctionner un processeur Core i7.
