Intel Celeron N4020

L'Intel Celeron N4020 est un SoC double-cœur avant tout conçu pour les PC portables à petit prix, annoncé fin 2019. Il tourne entre 1,1 et 2,8 GHz (burst monocœur), et il est basé sur la plateforme Gemini Lake. Le 4020 est la mise à jour de l'ancien Celeron N4000, et possède une fréquence de Boost supérieure de 200 MHz.

Proche de son prédécesseur Apollo Lake, la puce est gravée en 14 nm avec FinFET, tout en offrant des cœurs processeurs légèrement plus puissants, le double de cache L2, une taille réduite, une nouvelle génération de sorties écran (Gen. 10) et une puce Wifi partiellement intégrée. Au-delà des deux cœurs processeurs, la puce intègre également un GPU compatible DirectX 12 ainsi qu'un contrôleur mémoire DDR4 / LPDDR4 (double canal, jusqu'à 2 400 MHz). Le SoC n'est pas remplaçable, étant directement soudé sur la carte-mère.

Architecture

L'architecture du processeur est toujours nommée Goldmont Plus. Elle affiche un niveau supérieur de cache L2 (jusqu'à 4 Mo) par rapport aux anciens cœurs Goldmont d'Apollo Lake. Cela signifie que les instructions par cycle devraient un peu meilleures, mais encore éloignées des processeurs Core comme ceux de la série Kaby Lake Y.

Performances

Les performances CPU du Celeron N4020 devraient être légèrement meilleures que celles de l'ancien Celeron N4000, grâce à la fréquence de Boost supérieure de 200 MHz (au moins pour les sollicitations monocœur). Le N4120 au nom proche possède 4 cœurs, et devrait donc être bien meilleur dans les scénarios multithread. Les performances, en particulier monothread, sont bien plus faibles dans ces processeurs Gemini Lake par rapport à celles des processeurs Core Y plus chers. Elles devraient cependant suffire pour les tâches basiques comme les suites Office ou la navigation web avec du multitâche modéré.

Performances graphiques

L'UHD Graphics 600 (Gemini Lake) est basée sur l'architecture Gen. 9 d'Intel, qui prend en charge DirectX 12 et également utilisée pour les adaptateurs graphiques Kaby Lake / Skylake / Apollo Lake (comme la HD Graphics 520). Avec 12 unités de calcul et une fréquence montant à 650 MHz, les performances devraient être en gros du niveau de celles de l'anciennes HD Graphics 500 (Apollo Lake).

La puce embarque également un moteur vidéo performant avec prise en charge matérielle du décodage VP9 et H.265 (profondeur de couleur de 8 bits).

Consommation

Comme pour son prédécesseur, Intel indique une enveloppe thermique de 6 W (SDP de 4,8 W - C Scenario Design Power). La puce peut de ce fait être en théorie refroidie passivement, mais des variantes avec ventilateur sont également possibles.
