Intel P8600

Le Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 est un dual core pour portable. Cadencé à 2.4 GHz avec un cache de niveau 2 de 3 Mo.A cause du cache plus petit (les Core 2 Duo T possède d'habitude 6 Mo à cette fréquence), le TDP n'est que de 25 Watt (au lieu des 35 Watt de la série T).

La vitesse du processeur est suffisante pour faire tourner tout les jeux mais les gamers choisiront un CPU plus puissant. Comparé au Turion II Ultra M640, le P8600 reste pus rapide.

Le P8600 est un CPU Penryn (Montevina) avec 2 unités intégrées, 1 unité de calcul à virgule flottante, 1 unité de chargement, et 1 store unit avec un pipeline à 14 étapes. Grâce au Wide Dynamic Execution Technology, qui permet l'usage de 4 coeurs.

Le Enhanced Speedstep baisse la fréquence à 1200 Mhz pour économiser de l'énergie.

Le Core 2 Duo P8600 s'installe dans un Socket P de 479 broches: Socket P / Micro Flip-Chip Pin Grid Array (Micro-FCPGA) qui demande 479-broches pour les Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) sockets (mPGA479M socket) ou Micro Flip-Chip Ball Grid Array (Micro-FCBGA) (479-broches).
