Intel i7-8850H

L'Intel Core i7-8550H est un processeur haut de gamme pour les portables, avec six cœurs et basé sur l'architecture Coffee Lake, annoncé début 2018. Le processeur monte entre 2,6 et 3,4 GHz (4,1 avec 4 cœurs, 4 GHz avec 6) et peut exécuter jusqu'à 12 threads simultanément grâce à l'hyper-threading. D'après Intel, le CPU est fabriqué grâce à un procédé 14 nm amélioré (14 nm++).

L'architecture Coffee Lake est similaire à l'architecture Kaby Lake, et ne diffère que du nombre de cœurs (maintenant six cœurs pour les versions haut de gamme), et du procédé de fabrication en 14 nm amélioré (14 nm++).

Performances

Grâce aux deux cœurs additionnels, les performances ont augmenté de presque 50 % par rapport à un processeur Kaby Lake avec une fréquence similaire comme le Core i7-7920HQ (3,1 - 4,1 GHz). Les performances mono cœur n'ont pas augmenté par rapport au prédécesseur Kaby Lake. S'agissant d'un modèle haut de gamme, le i7-8850H est adapté aux logiciels et aux jeux les plus exigeants.

Circuit graphique

La carte graphique intégrée Intel UHD Graphics 630 est censée posséder des performances légèrement plus élevées que son prédécesseur, sa fréquence ayant augmenté de 50 MHz (non officiel). Son architecture est identique à celle de l'Intel HD Graphics 630. Nous nous attendons en effet à des améliorations de performances, mais comme il s'agit d'une solution bas de gamme, on ne pourra au mieux faire tourner les jeux actuels fluidement qu'avec des détails réduits.

Consommation énergétique

Intel indique une enveloppe thermique de 45 W, si bien que ce i7 n'est adapté qu'aux gros portables équipés de bonnes solutions de refroidissement. En utilisant cTDP-down, le processeur peut également être configuré en 35 W, mais avec des performances réduites.
