Intel Core i9-9880H

L'Intel Core i9-9880H est un processeur huit cœurs haut de gamme pour les portables, basé sur l'architecture Coffee Lake (2019 Refresh, CFL-HR). Le processeur est cadencé entre 2,3 et 4,8 GHz (4,1 GHz avec 8 cœurs) et peut exécuter jusqu'à 16 threads simultanément grâce à l'HyperThreading. Les 4,8 GHz ne peuvent être atteints qu'en utilisant le "Thermal Velocity Boost" wui permet à un cœur de monter à 4,8 GHz (+ 200 MHz) tant que le processeur est sous les 50 °C (non vérifié). Par rapport à son prédécesseur, le Core i9-8950HK, le 9980H est basé sur la même architecture mais possède deux cœurs supplémentaires.

D'après Intel, le processeur est gravé en 14 nm amélioré (14 nm++). L'i9-9880H est le modèle le plus puissant de la série Coffee Lake H au moment de son lancement, et possède un multiplicateur débridé afin de permettre l'overclocking du CPU.

L'architecture Coffee Lake est similiaire à Kaby Lake, et ne diffère que du nombre de cœurs (huit cœurs pour la version haut de gamme) et du procédé de gravure amélioré (14 nm++ au lieu de 14 nm).

Performances

A causes des deux cœurs supplémentaires, les performances ont augmenté de presque 33 % par rapport à un prédécesseur à la fréquence similaire, et même de 100 % par rapport aux anciens Kaby Lake quadricœurs. Les performances monocœur n'ont cependant progressé que légèrement, et les performances multicœur dépendent fortement du système de refroidissement.

Graphismes

La carte graphique intégrée Intel UHD Graphics 630 est sensée offrir des performances légèrement en hausse, sa fréquence ayant augmenté de 50 MHz. Son architecture est identique à celle de la HD Graphics 630. Nous nous attendons à des améliorations des performances, mais s'agissant d'une solution peu puissante, si les jeux récents peuvent tounrer fluidement, cela ne se fera qu'avec les détails au minimum.

Consommation

Intel indique une enveloppe thermique de 45 W, si bien que cet i9 n'est adapté qu'aux gros portables avec de bonnes solutions de refroidissement.
