AMD Radeon R4 (Kaveri)

L'AMD Radeon R4 (Kaveri) est une carte graphique intégrée compatible avec les librairies DirectX 11.2 que l'on retrouve dans certains APU AMD Kaveri. Le circuit graphique intègre 192 unités de calculs shader GCN et 3 blocs d'unités compute cores comme sur l'A6 Pro-7050B. La fréquence maximale de la mémoire de la puce est limitée à la DDR3-1600.

Architecture et Caractéristiques

Grâce à la nouvelle architecture GCN 1.1, les puces graphiques des APU Kaveri sont bien plus efficientes en énergie tout en affichant des performances en hausse par rapport à leurs prédécesseurs les APU Richland et Trinity sous architecture VLIW. La carte graphique prend maintenant en charge les librairies DirectX 11.2 "Tier 2" et l'API AMD Mantle. La carte graphique est capable d'accélérer les opérations de certaines applications telles qu'Adobe Photoshop via les instructions OpenCL.

Le moteur vidéo a été revu sur les APU Kaveri en incluant le support de l'UVD 4.2 (Unified Video Decoder) et du VCE 2.0 (Video Codec Engine). Le support du codec H.264 a été légèrement amélioré sur de nombreux plans. Le codec H.265 n'est néanmoins pas pris en charge matériellement.

Performances

Du fait de la faible fréquence de fonctionnement et de la présence de seulement 192 unités de calcul shader, la Radeon R4 ne peut rivaliser qu'avec une carte graphique intégrée de type HD Graphics 4000. Par conséquent, les jeux modernes de 2014 sont jouables avec les détails sur faible et une résolution de 1024 x 768 pixels.

Consommation énergétique

La consommation énergétique de l'APU Kaveri A6 Pro-7050B dans son intégralité est donnée pour 17 Watts. La puce gravée en 28 nm conviendra donc pour les ordinateurs portables de taille moyenne voire les ultraportables.
